Antique Yemeni Silver Necklace.
This specimen of ethnic silver bead is in very good condition.
In Yemen, for centuries, most of the silver jewelry worn by the tribes was made by Jewish blacksmiths living in the country. These highly skilled silversmiths used a combination of geometric shapes, filigree work, and granulation techniques to create a wide variety of amulets, bracelets, necklaces, chokers, and rings.
Some of these Yemeni pieces bear signatures of Hebrew names written in Arabic script. Typically, these makers marks or hallmarks can be found either stamped or engraved with the jeweler's signature on small oval or round silver spots added after the piece was finished.
