This antique Kazakh necklace in gilded silver and red glass is a typical example of the traditional craftsmanship of the nomadic people of Kazakhstan. Composed of teardrop-shaped pendants inlaid with red glass, it was worn by women during ceremonies or weddings to symbolize prosperity, protection, and fertility. The gilded silver used in its making reflects the importance and richness of the piece, while the glass imitates precious stones like rubies, often associated with health and prosperity. The engraved geometric patterns and hanging beads enhance the symbolic importance of the jewelry, which also served as a marker of social status throughout the history of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia.
