The variety of gemstones in this jewelry illustrates the plethora of goods available in Bukhara, an important site along the Silk Road. Coral can come from as far away as the Mediterranean Sea, China or India. The seed beads are said to have been fished in the Gulf region. Here, glass beads are used instead of gemstones.
