Rare antique pair of Moroccan fibulae Rif and Nador region. Large heavy 19th century Berber fibulae with silver chains.
Fibulae can be worn in pairs to close the coat. Their weight, size and fineness of the workmanship indicate the social status of the woman who wears them.
The center of this fibula represents an almond surrounded by flower petals.
This jewel was made by molding. Silver hallmarks for the city of Fez or Meknes. The central sun is still clearly visible. Punched no later than 1911 (1329), after which the punching system changed.
